Happy 4th of July!
Yesterday morning, we woke up in Scottsdale, Arizona and ended our day in Pasadena, California. In between, we had a meetup in Las Vegas.
A week after we scheduled our roadshow, every meetup had at least half a dozen RSVPs...with the exception of Las Vegas. We were definitely passing through Vegas--we had a meetup scheduled in Phoenix and a meetup scheduled in LA.
We decided to make the best of what might be a very lonely stopover and scheduled our meetup at the Pinball Hall of Fame. Walking into the venue, the first thing we saw was a text input device. It was a little cumbersome, but it totally worked.
We were incredibly surprised when about a dozen folks showed up. We ended up having to improvise a table and chair so people could try out the keyboard.
Truth be told, pretty much everything we talked about last night, we've already talked about in a backer update.
Today, we hit two campaign milestones: We crossed $400,000 in backer contributions, and as of a few minutes ago, we've sold 1300 keyboards. That's amazing and wonderful. We've gotten a few questions about whether it's still useful to back the project since we've exceeded our initial goal. The quick answer is: Yes! The larger our initial production order, the better we'll be able to make your keyboards. (At least up to a point. If we hit about 5000 orders, we'll start spacing out the delivery dates for later backers.)
Tomorrow evening, we have a meetup in LA at CRASH Space. After that, we're back on the road up to San Francisco where we...get to see our cats! We'll be taking a couple days off at home to recharge, do laundry and start thinking about post-Kickstarter planning. After that, we're headed up to Eugene, Seattle, Vancouver, and Portland.
Yesterday, we drove 569 miles, bringing us up a total of 6130 miles since we left Boston.
As of this writing, 1319 backers have pre-ordered 1301 keyboards for a total of $404,853. The campaign runs for 10 more days.
